What is a Housing Needs Survey?
A Housing Needs Survey helps a community understand what types of homes local people need now and in the future. It provides evidence about the demand for affordable housing, smaller homes, family homes, homes for older people and other types of accommodation. The findings can help inform local planning policies, influence future housing proposals and support funding applications. Most importantly, it gives residents an opportunity to have their housing needs heard and helps ensure that future development responds to the needs of the community.
With national housing policy placing increasing emphasis on delivering more homes and meeting evidenced local housing needs, it is particularly important that Stanwick residents make their views known. As the Stanwick Neighbourhood Plan approaches the end of its plan period, the Housing Needs Survey will provide valuable, up-to-date evidence about the homes local people actually need. Your participation will help ensure that future planning decisions and any review or replacement of the Neighbourhood Plan reflect the needs and aspirations of Stanwick residents.
